Life Legacy


Johnnie Mae Billings was born May 4, 1926 to the union of Gertrude Murray and Mason Murray Sr. in Coalmount (now annexed into Helena), Alabama.

She was educated in the Shelby County system and spent most/the last of her working years employed at Alabaster Industries.

She confessed Christ at an early age and later joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and served faithfully.

She united in Holy Matrimony with Will Billings on December 19, 1945. The union was blessed with twelve children.

Her parents Gertrude Murray and Mason Murray Sr., brother, Mason Murray Jr., daugher, Gertrude Smith, sons, Will Danny Billings and Leon Billings preceded her in death.

She was called home to Glory on July 3, 2010.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: five sons, Cleophus (Anita) Billings of Kansas City, Missouri, Mason (Saundra) Billings of Alabaster, Alabama, William (Sandra) Billings, Bobby (Virginia) Billings, David (Demetria) Billings, all of Helena, Alabama; five daughters, Mozetta (James) Rose of Birmingham, Alabama, Betty (Warren) Clark of Houston,Texas, Annette Billings, Mary B. Mack, Christine (Randolph) Scott, all of Helena, Alabama; a very special granddaughter, Andrea Smith of Helena, Alabama; thirty-five more grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; one brother, Moses Murray; one sister, Gertrude (Richard) Taylor of Tazwell, Virginia; and a host of other relatives and friends.
