Gussie Andrew Jones

Gussie Andrew Jones Jr. was born on October 17th, 1946 to Ruby Lee Manning Blakely and Gussie Andrew Jones Sr. He was the eldest son of their 10 children, and affectionately known as Buddy. As a child he gave his life to Christ. He continued to cultivate his spiritual walk with the Lord, by reading the Holy Scriptures and regularly attended Sunday School. 

Due to his affinity for education he garnered the nickname Brain by his schoolmates. He graduated from North Jefferson High School and after completing multiple trainings during his enlistment in the U.S. Army he proceeded to obtain his Associates Degree in Drafting. Until months before his passing he was an avid reader and learner. 

On June 12th, 1970 he married his love Velvely Ann Jones and raised 3 wonderful daughters. He spent most of his Adult Career as an employee at CSX Transportation as a Mechanized Equipment Mechanic. He retired from his position in 2009. He was known as a hardworking, generous, funny, caring, and loving man. Not to mention, he was always up for a good movie and a great read.

He is proceeded in death by his beloved wife Velvely Ann Jones. His parents Ruby and Gussie Jones Sr; brothers Steven and Warren Jones; Sisters Carolyn and Linda Jones. As well as his grandaughter Jasmine Tarver. He leaves to mourn 3 daughters Angela Denise Jones of Columbus, Ohio; Joy Jones Tarver (William) Lithonia, GA, and April T. Jones Stone Mountain, GA. Sibilings Patricia Montgomery (Larry), Sylvia Bolden (Dwight), Dennis Jones, Stanley Jones (Letha), Jerry Jones (Irene). His grandchildren John Andrew Jones and Kiersten Aniya Jones. As well as a host of family members and friends.
