Stella Michelle (Sanders) Canty

   
    We celebrate the life of Stella Canty, a remarkable woman whose faith, love, and compassion
touched everyone who knew her. She was a devoted mother, cherished sister, beloved aunt, loyal
friend, and a constant source of strength for her family and community.
Stella was born to the late Jessie and Clara Sanders on September 23, 1954, in Birmingham, AL.
On August 3, 2026, Stella made her transition to her heavenly home, where she rests peacefully
with the Lord.
Stella accepted Christ at a young age at First Baptist East Boyles Church, and her faith remained
the foundation of her life. She believed in keeping God first and faithfully instilled those values
in her family by ensuring her son, niece, and nephew received a faith-based education at a
private school. Her 27-year career at Walmart was a testament to her unwavering work ethic,
perseverance, and dedication. She worked hard not only to provide for her family but to create
opportunities that would allow them to thrive.
Family was her greatest joy. She loved deeply and unconditionally, always showing up for those
in need regardless of the circumstances. Her generous heart extended beyond her family into the
community, where she was known for her kindness, compassion, and willingness to help others.
She also enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved shopping, finding hidden treasures while
thrifting, trying new restaurants, and expressing her creativity through interior decorating. She
had a gift for making both homes and hearts feel warm and welcoming.
She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, selfless spirit, and the love she so freely gave.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on in the lives she touched and in the
values, she instilled in those she loved.
Stella’s legacy will be carried on by her loving son, Jason Henderson (Gabrielle Henderson,
Carter Gaston); her niece Heaven Sanders- Holby; and nephew Angel Sanders. She leaves to
cherish her memories: four brothers, Jessie, Orson, Bruce, and Earl Sanders, and a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by: her parents, and her two
brothers, Edward Charles and Larry Sanders and one sister Yvonne Roberts.
