Vivian Edwards so affectionately known as "Murry" passed away on May 10th, 2023 at the age of 84 surrounded by several family members. She was born in Westfield, Alabama and graduated from Westfield High School. Even though she was never married and bore no children of her own, Vivian was the family Matriarch even before and after the death of her parents. She retired early and became the primary caregiver for her parents until their passing almost twenty years ago. She became the family "go to" person for most of her remaining siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and neighborhood friends.
She was a devoted and dedicated church member at the New Hope Church Of God In Christ (Dolomite, Al) where she served as financial secretary. Vivian was a blessing to her family members and very much loved by many individuals she crossed paths with. Earlier in her numerous accomplishments, she was instrumental in securing and purchasing real estate and becoming an entrepreneur in that field. She owned and rented properties throughout West Birmingham and Hoover.
Vivian served as cafeteria manager for Westfield High School from the early sixties to the School closing in 1971. She was also employed by the Birmingham Board of Education with Parker High School and Tuggle Elementary School.
Vivian is survived by three sisters; Sandra Jean Odom (Decatur Georgia) Deloria Faye Magloire (Hubert) Brighton Alabama and Veronica D German Bessemer, Alabama, three brothers; Algrin C Edwards (Marquita) Birmingham, Alabama, N David Edwards (Enda) and Delanford Edwards of Birmingham.
The family of Vivian Edwards wish to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Amedisys Hospice for all of their support and special care provided during this time. Additionally a very heartfelt thanks and appreciation is given to her caregivers (sister-in-law) Enda I Edwards, niece Tammy Edwards and all of the RN's at Amedisys Hospice.
